Spotlight on Cartier Scott, Mentor: He’s Helping Our Youth Find Their Passions and Use Them To Become Successful

Cartier Scott is a mentor with Connect to Greatness. Originally from South Florida, he works as a teacher and college coach. He’s helping our middle school youth find out what they are passionate about and talented at and use that to become successful in life.

Here’s his story.

1) Why did you want to get involved with Connect to Greatness?

I wanted to get involved with Connect to Greatness because I wanted to make a difference in our community. I’ve seen too many young men of color make bad decisions and go down the wrong path without guidance.

2) What do you hope to gain from your involvement with the organization?

What I hope to gain from my involvement with Connect to Greatness is that I want our Black boys to know that it’s cool to be smart and you don’t have to dumb yourself down to fit in or to make others comfortable. I also want them to find something they are passionate about and talented at and use that to become successful in life.

3) Tell us about yourself.

I was born and raised in Riviera Beach, Florida. I have been in South Florida all my life. I am a math teacher at Suncoast High School and a track coach at Keiser University. I enjoy making a difference in the lives of young people. The reason that I do the jobs that I do is so that I can impact as many young people at as many levels as I can. I mentor with Connect to Greatness to impact the middle school children, I teach high school math to impact the high school children, and I coach at the college level to impact the young adults because they all are our future and I want to make sure that they have the proper guidance.
